Pitta Bread
1 tbsp dry yeast
2 tsp sugar
400 ml warm water
2 tbsp oil or melted butter
1/2 tsp salt
500 g flour
Dissolve the yeast in warm water with sugar. Let it sit for 10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
Mix the salt, oil and flour into the yeast mixture, kneading the dough thoroughly until smooth.
Roll out the dough with a rolling pin. Fold the dough in half so that it becomes double-layered and cut out 10 round pieces, about 15 cm in diameter.
Allow the bread rounds to rise in a preheated 80°C oven for 10-15 minutes.
Increase the oven temperature to the highest setting and bake the bread until golden brown.
Once baked, stack the breads on a plate and cover them with a damp cloth to keep them soft.
