Layer Cake
150 g margarine
250 g sugar
2 eggs
400 g flour
2 tsp cinnamon (leveled)
1.5 tsp baking soda
1 tbsp cocoa powder
2 tsp ground cloves
250 ml milk
Start by beating together the margarine and sugar until well combined.
Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
Divide the dough into two portions and spread each portion onto baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
Bake at 175°C for 15-18 minutes.
Buttercream:
500 g powdered sugar
200 g butter
1 egg
1-2 tsp vanilla extract
Milk as needed to thin (be careful not to make the frosting too thin)
Assembly:
Let the cake layers cool completely and then slice each layer in half horizontally.
Layer the cake by spreading one-third of the buttercream between each layer, starting with a cake layer, adding buttercream, and repeating until all layers are assembled.
End with a plain cake layer on top.
Refrigerate the cake before cutting it into pieces for serving.
